3428 - SOUTH SYDNEY POLICE CITIZENS YOUTH CLUB

Hoenig, Ron to the Attorney General, and Minister for Justice representing the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Minister for the Hunter, and Vice-President of the Executive Council
  1. Can the Minister provide an assurance to the South Sydney Police Citizens Youth Club in relation to its tenure at its current site, in order that the premises can be urgently renovated?
  2. Is the Minister aware whether Housing NSW in any capacity has any proposed use of the PCYC site at Redfern, other than its current use as at PCYC?
  3. If yes, what are the proposals?
Answer -

I am advised:

There is a clear delineation of responsibilities between NSW Police and the PCYC. PCYC is a public charitable company that is independent of the Government and the NSW Police Force.

PCYC has sole responsibility for the management and operation of PCYC facilities, whereas the NSW Police Force is responsible for the provision of police officers to support the activities of PCYC.
