3382 - BOTANY BAY AND ST GEORGE LOCAL AREA COMMANDS

Hoenig, Ron to the Attorney General, and Minister for Justice representing the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Minister for the Hunter, and Vice-President of the Executive Council

In relation to the proposed merger of Botany and the St George local area commands:

  1. Has the Minister consulted with Senior Police Officers, including the Local Area Commanders, as to how this proposed merger can be achieved without compromising effective policing of the local areas?
  2. What are the cost savings associated with the proposed merger?
  3. Which positions in the Local Area Commands will be abolished as a result of the proposed merger?

Answer -

The NSW Police Force has advised me that it does not intend to merge the Botany Bay and St George Local Area Commands.

As has been publicly announced, it is now proposed to merge St George and Hurstville Local Area Commands.
