3537 - PILOT PIG BOUNTY PROGRAM

Donato, Philip to the Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education representing the Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Regional New South Wales, and Minister for Western New South Wales

Will you consider pilot bounty program to increase the effective management of wild pigs and dogs, which continue to plague and terrorise our state’s agricultural sector?

Answer -

Past bounty schemes have shown not to deliver a significant reduction in pest animal populations and their impacts compared to current approaches in NSW.

The NSW Government has invested an additional $13 million to reduce the spread of feral pigs and other pests across NSW. This, along with the services provided by LLS, such as landholder education, have seen successful results in invasive pest management.
