3408 - PARKES SPECIAL ACTIVATION PRECINCT FEASIBILITY STUDY

Donato, Philip to the Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education representing the Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Regional New South Wales, and Minister for Western New South Wales

Can you advise if any feasibility study has been conducted regarding investment and development of warehousing infrastructure at the Parkes Special Activation Precinct?

Answer -

In July 2018, the NSW Government announced Parkes to be investigated as a freight and logistics focused Special Activation Precinct (SAP). The Parkes SAP was nominated to capitalise on the area's endowments in freight and logistics - notably Parkes' unique position at the intersection of North-South and East-West rail routes, the Newell Highway and the planned investment in the Inland Rail line and the Newell Highway Parkes Bypass.

The Parkes SAP is suited to warehousing development and is an identified land use in the precincts Master Plan. Infrastructure including utilities, to support land development in the Parkes SAP has been delivered.

It is intended that development in the Parkes SAP, including any warehousing, will be privately led. As such, feasibility studies associated with investment and development of future warehousing will be undertaken by the private sector as part of project planning.
