1049 - SOCIAL HOUSING INVESTMENT

That this House:

(1) Notes the Premier fell short of meeting a 25 percent reduction in rough sleeping by 2020 in the city of Sydney.

(2) Urges the Government to provide 500 Housing First places in hotspots in New South Wales if the 2025 target of reducing rough sleeping is to be achieved.

(3) Calls for an investment in Housing First, a proven approach to reducing homelessness in other places around the world.

(4) Recognises the ongoing work of Homelessness NSW and their recent conference Hidden but not Forgotten which called for an additional 5,000 social housing dwellings each year for the next 10 years and support provided for housing maintenance.
