1005 - PAID DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEAVE CAMPAIGN

That this House:

(1) Notes one in three Australian women have experienced physical violence since the age of 15, with one woman a week being killed by an intimate partner in Australia.

(2) Acknowledges paid domestic violence leave is vital to providing both the financial and job security needed to aid survivors in leaving abusive relationships.

(3) Commends the work of the We Won't Wait campaign operated by Australian Services Union in campaigning for 10 days of paid domestic violence leave to be a universal right for all workers.

(4) Commends Local Government NSW and its President, Linda Scott, for delivering family and domestic violence leave for 45,000 local government workers.

(5) Calls on the Government to support the We Won't Wait campaign and for 10 days paid domestic violence leave to be included in the National Employment Standards.
