Question and Answer Tracking Details

Washington, Kate to the Minister for Multiculturalism, and Minister for Disability Services
  1. Does the Government have any plans for the Tomaree Lodge, Stockton Centre and Kanangra Centre following the transfer of all residents to group homes?

  2. When will Tomaree Lodge be closed?

Answer -

I am advised:

(1) The Government's first priority is to relocate residents to their new accommodation in the community.

Once the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) declare the sites at Stockton and Tomaree vacant and surplus to its operational needs, they will be referred to Property NSW to consider the future ownership of these FACS assets.

As the site of Kanangra is owned buy the Ministry for Health, its future use in the health portfolio will be determined by Health.

(2) The closure of Tomaree Lodge is subject to the delivery of the Hunter Residences Program by non-government provider, Home4Life, and the construction of 78 new homes. The homes are scheduled for completion in 2018-19. Residents will transition to their new homes once completed. and Hunter Residences including Tomaree will close.
