Government Business

Government Business

The Sitting Day Schedule allows for significant opportunities over the three sitting days each week for the consideration of Government Business. This takes up the largest proportion of time in the House. Items of Government Business are those notices of motions and orders of the day in the charge of Ministers and generally comprise the Government's legislative agenda.

The majority of bills debated in the Legislative Assembly are those introduced by Ministers, who can arrange Government business in any order.

The following video explains the passage of legislation through the Legislative Assembly. It follows a Government bill through all stages.

The Leader of the House will publish an indicative Daily Program which will indicate the items of Government Business proposed to be considered that day. This program may be subject to change.
