Urgently provide continuous Intensive Care Paramedics in the Clarence Valley

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, The Clarence Valley is home to more than 56,000 residents, with the population significantly increasing during peak holiday periods. The region covers 10,466 square kilometres and includes Australia’s largest correctional facility, placing substantial pressure on local emergency health services. Despite these demands, Grafton Ambulance Station is currently staffed by only two Intensive Care Paramedics (ICPs), limiting the availability of advanced, life-saving pre-hospital care. This level of resourcing is not sufficient to meet the needs of a community of this size, geography and risk profile. The undersigned petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly call on the Government to work with and urge NSW Ambulance to upgrade Grafton Ambulance Station from a Category B to a Category A station. This upgrade would increase staffing to 12 ICP positions and ensure Intensive Care Paramedic coverage 24 hours a day 7 days a week across the entire Clarence Valley. Our community deserves timely access to the highest level of emergency medical care. We urge the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to act without delay.
