Preserve Educational Choice for Beaumont Road Public School Students and Killara & West Lindfield Families

Petitioner: Mr Aurel FARCASH | Member: Cross, Matt | No. of Signatories: 1,359 | Date closed: 02/06/2025
To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales, We, the undersigned, urge the NSW Government and the Department of Education to retain a permanent elective option between Killara High School (KHS) and Lindfield Learning Village (LLV) for students of Beaumont Road Public School (BRPS) and families in the Killara and West Lindfield communities. Why This Matters BRPS students have long transitioned to KHS through the Killara Schools Partnership (KSP), providing educational continuity and strong community ties. The proposed rezoning would remove KHS as the designated local high school, forcing students into LLV, which operates under a non-traditional "stage-not-age" model. While LLV may suit some, many families prefer a traditional high school structure. Our Concerns 1. Loss of Choice: Families would no longer have access to their expected local high school. 2. Disruption to Educational Pathways: Many have planned for KHS, and this change undermines that. 3. Community Impact: The change severs social connections and weakens community bonds. Our Request We call on the Legislative Assembly to urge the Government to ensure that all current and future BRPS students and Killara/West Lindfield families have an ongoing choice between KHS and LLV. This permanent elective option would protect educational choice, community stability, and student well-being.
