Protect our Sporting Facilities and Save Carnarvon Golf Course

Petitioner: Mr Adam McGregor | Member: Voltz, Lynda | No. of Signatories: 5,035 | Date closed: 04/07/2025
To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, the undersigned petitioners respectfully request that the NSW Government exclude the Carnarvon Golf Course from consideration as a potential site for future cemetery or crematorium developments. Carnarvon Golf Course serves as a crucial recreational facility in an area with limited green spaces. It is widely recognised as the leading golf course in the region, drawing visitors from both the diverse local community and the broader Sydney metropolitan area. We argue that the government should prioritise the health and well-being of its citizens, acknowledge the long-term benefits to community health and fiscal sustainability, and avoid treating vital sporting facilities as expendable facilities. We ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to advocate for the community's wishes by ensuring that Carnarvon Golf Course is removed from any lists for potential cemetery and crematorium sites, thus preserving this essential recreational space.
