The Parliament of NSW is proud to present Trust: Stories of Housing Trust an exhibition featuring portraits by acclaimed photographer Tim Bauer, on display in the Fountain Court from 4 November until 27 November 2025.
Trust was commissioned for Housing Trust's 40th Anniversary, and celebrates resilience, courage, connection and hope. Trust reminds us that whatever labels are used for social and affordable housing, at their heart these are simply homes for humans. Humans with rich diverse stories. Humans who contribute to our communities and humans who just like all of us deserve a decent place to call home.
Photographer Tim Bauer spent time with each participant to honour each story with care and create this stunning collection of photographs bringing out the unique personality of each subject. Throughout his career Tim has captured unforgettable portraits of everyone from prime ministers and Olympians to rock stars and gangsters. We are proud to say that Tim rates these among his some of his favourite portraits and subjects to work with.
Every portrait is paired with a QR code that takes you to a web page where you can read more about each person's journey. The people featured have lived experience of social housing or homelessness and together, their stories show what community, dignity and possibility look like in real life.
Housing Trust is a community housing provider and has been providing safe, secure homes to the Illawarra community for more than 40 years with a vision of a decent home for everyone. Those featured in the portraits are a mix of Housing Trust customers, staff and community members.
Trust is being hosted at NSW Parliament by the Hon Rose Jackson, Minister for Water, Minister for Housing, Minister for Homelessness, Minister for Mental Health, and Minister for Youth.
