This Briefing Paper discusses the reform of the electricity supply industry, both nationally and in NSW, by way of background to the Electricity Legislation Amendment Bill 1995. The paper considers the functions and powers of the NSW Electricity Commission (Pacific Power), reform of the electricity industry, the national grid, the National Competition Policy and the Electricity Supply Industry, and environmental issues. The paper concludes with commentary on the issue.
