From Monday 6 July to Friday 17 July, 2026, during the winter school holidays, free public tours are running every weekday.

Visit Australia’s first parliament. Join a free guided tour of our historic chambers, available on Mondays and non-sitting Fridays. On sitting days, visitors are welcome to view proceedings from the public galleries.

You’ll find some of our state’s finest historical and contemporary art on display in the Fountain Court. For a fine-dining experience like no other, take a seat in our award-winning Strangers’ Restaurant.

Visitor information

Parliament House is located at 6 Macquarie Street, Sydney. 

The nearest train stations are Martin Place and St James. The nearest Metro station is Martin Place. Find more information to help plan your visit.

Entry is free. You may have to reserve or buy tickets for special exhibitions and events.

9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Entrance and toilets

There is ramp and lift access from the Macquarie Street entrance to Reception on level 7. There are accessible public toilets on levels 6 and 7 at Parliament House and a Changing Places facility is available.

Wayfinding within Parliament

There is signage with raised lettering in some publicly accessible areas of NSW Parliament House.

We also offer BindiMaps, an accessible wayfinding app providing audio, map and text directions to public areas.

Assistive listening technology

There are three types of assistive listening technologies in the parliamentary precinct: Auracast, induction coils and infrared (IR).

All visitors entering Parliament House are required to pass through a security screening point.

All bags and items will be screened and prohibited items, including sharp objects such as scissors, are not permitted inside the building. If you are carrying a prohibited item, you must surrender it at the screening point.

If you have specific access requirements that may affect the screening process (for example, you use a mobility aid or have a medical device such as a pacemaker), please inform security staff on arrival so they can assist you.

To enter the public galleries, additional conditions apply. All personal belongings, including mobile phones, must be cloaked prior to entry and visitors will undergo further security screening before entering the galleries.

Frequently asked questions

Can I visit NSW Parliament House?

Yes, NSW Parliament House is open to the public from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). On sitting days, the Parliament is open from 9am until both houses rise. Entry is free. You may have to buy tickets or register for special exhibitions and events. Find more information to help plan your visit

How can I join a tour of NSW Parliament House?

There are free guided tours every Monday and on non-sitting Fridays at 1:30pm. When it's the NSW school holidays, tours run every weekday at both 11:30am and 1:30pm. There are no tours on public holidays. Groups smaller than 10 are encouraged to book. Larger groups must book a private tour free of charge.  Learn more and book a tour.

Can I park at NSW Parliament House?

While public parking is not available, limited accessible parking can be requested (subject to availability). If you hold a Mobility Parking Scheme Permit and are visiting Parliament to take part in committee proceedings, attend an event, or as a guest of a member, please arrange parking ahead of time by contacting the relevant committee, member’s office, or event organiser.
