Integrity in government ‘assures citizens that government is working in their interest, not just for the select few.’ Integrity in government has been a key issue in NSW for decades. In recent years, there have been several controversies and recommendations to strengthen the integrity framework, which have led to some reforms. Recent surveys in Australia continue to show low levels of public trust in government, indicating that integrity remains an ongoing issue for Australian parliaments. This paper examines a range of topical issues including the funding model for integrity agencies, political donations, lobbying, and pork barrelling.
