Parliament of NSW kicks off 2025 exhibition program with Tangled Unity by Zeina Saadie

The captivating work of Lebanese-Australian artist Zeina Saadie is on display throughout February at NSW Parliament House, for her exhibition Tangled Unity.

Hosted in the Parliament’s Fountain Court, the free exhibition features a body of mixed-media paintings, ranging from figurative to impressionistic styles and varying in size. 

The artist and Hunters Hill resident explained, “The exhibition is a visual representation of the complexity and entanglement of our memories, dreams and surroundings – functioning together as one.”

Born to a family of art collectors, Zeina Saadie was raised in Lebanon, finding solace and selfexpression through art amidst military conflict. She holds a Bachelor of Graphic Design and Advertising and founded the design agency Antar Group in Beirut before relocating to Sydney in 1999.

Immersing herself in the creative scene of her adopted home, Zeina developed an interest in Australian art. She proceeded to hone her skills at Sydney’s Julian Ashton School of Art, with a particular focus on portraiture and the human form.

Zeina’s artworks comprise of intricate layers of mixed media components on canvas, merging conscious and subconscious elements. Within palettes of ‘healing’ colours, bold marks and textures depict figures, the landscapes of Lebanon and Australia, or the dreamscapes of her imagination.

Tangled Unity is being hosted at NSW Parliament by the Hon Anthony Roberts MP, Member for Lane Cove.

“As a keen supporter of the Arts, it is my great pleasure to host this art display, especially as it showcases the art of one of my constituents,” said Mr Roberts. “This display I hope helps highlight the work of an individual with a story and vision to tell, and reminds our community that art is for all.”
