What is Hansard and can I view Hansard records online?

Hansard is the written record of debates in Parliament. Transcripts are published in stages as they are prepared and checked for accuracy. Proof (draft) text is published online around three hours after the spoken word, progressively throughout sitting days. The proof version is updated to the final ‘corrected copy’ version within two weeks.

Can I visit NSW Parliament House?​

Yes, NSW Parliament House is open to the public from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). On sitting days, the Parliament is open from 9am until both houses rise. Entry is free. You may have to buy tickets or register for special exhibitions and events. Find more information to help plan your visit here.

How can I watch Parliamentary sittings and committee hearings live?

On sitting days, visitors are welcome to view proceedings from the public galleries. Please note, it is a condition of entry to the public galleries that all personal belongings, including mobile phones, must be cloaked. Visitors will undergo additional security screening on entry to the public galleries.
