Cause Category: Resignation - Federal contest
Notes: Caused by the resignation of Country Party MP B.M.Wade to unsuccessfully contest Gwydir at the 1940 federal election. At the time, Wade had been a thorn in the side of the Mair government and had aggravated his leader Bruxner for voting against the government in Parliament. Attempts to discipline him had been rejected by his local Party branches.
Source: Country Party names taken from SMH 6 September 1940, p.9 col.4 though Satterthwaite's name has been corrected from Farel.
