After nine consecutive quarters as the nation’s best performing State, New South Wales has been surpassed by Victoria in Commsec’s July 2018 State of the States Report. According to the report, NSW has slipped from top spot due to declines in housing finance and dwelling starts. However, the State still holds top spot for retail spending and its relative performance on unemployment.
