Schoolteacher. Educated at Launceston High School and University of Newcastle. Schoolteacher in Tasmania from 1927 until 1935 and senior science master and headmaster at Armidale School 1947 until 1950. Agent General, London, England. Recreational interests include tennis and golf.

Military service

Royal Australian Air Force from 1939 until 1945 as a squadron leader.
