Notes: Waddell had been an Australian Party candidate in Woollahra at the 1930 election. He had been active in the All For Australia League. (Robinson) FLP candidate Gardiner had been MLA for Forbes 1891-94 and was re-elected for the new seat of Ashburnham as an Independent Labor MP after failing to sign the solidarity pledge. Defeated as a Free Trade candidate in 1895, he later re-joined the Labor Party and served as member for Orange 1904-7 and as a Labor Senator 1910-26 and briefly as a Progressive Labor Senator from June to November 1928.
