Notes: Sitting Free Trade MP GH Greene did not contest the election. In his biography of Holman, Evatt (p70) suggests this was a 'gesture' that allowed Holman a free run in winning the seat. Kelly was not in the SMH list of selected National Federal candidate on 22 July, but he was listed as a Bartonite in the Australian Star on 26 July. Kelly had been elected as a Labor MP for West Sydney in 1891, and was to return to the Parliament as a Labor MP in 1901.
