Notes: The SMH listed Clubb as an Independent, the Telegraph had no affiliation while the Star listed him as a Ministerial supporter. Given his past connection with Free Trade, Clubb has been classified as Independent Free Trade. At the 1895 election, the Free Trade Association did not endorse candidates against sitting Labor members. Chidgey was listed as the Selected Protectionist candidate in both the Telegraph and Star, all papers agreeing on Johnston being an Opposition supporter.
