Notes: Cotton was a sitting MP for Newtown elected as a Labor candidate in 1891. Bowes was sitting MP for Morpeth. All sources list Beasley as the Labor candidate and Cotton is in the general candidate listings of both the SMH and DT as a Free Trade candidate. While both Cotton and Rigg were listed in all sources as Free Trade candidates, the selected Free Trade lists did not list a candidate for this seat. However, Cotton was included in the list of the Free Trade and Land Reform Association.
