Lachlan and Lower Darling - 1858 (Roll: 507) - 2 to be elected
Nominations: Monday, 25 January 1858, Polling: Thursday, 11 February 1858 (No poll held)
Candidate Votes Votes %
Paterson, John (Elected 2) Elected unopposed
Macleay, William Jnr (Re-elected 1) Elected unopposed
Notes: Sitting MP James Garland did not contest the election. (Reason not known). The report on the close of nominations states that both John Piper Egan and Edward Flood were nominated in their absence, and both had been listed by the SMH 18 January, p.8 col.1, as candidates in this seat. However, the nominators were unable to muster the six persons required to call for a poll and Paterson and Macleay were elected unopposed.
