Notes: The sitting MP for Ryde was Labor's A.J.L.Williams, having won the seat at a September 1940 by-election. On the new boundaries, Ryde took in large parts of the former Hornsby electorate and Williams moved south to contest Georges River. The UAP pre-selected E.S.Solomon, whose seat of Petersham had been abolished by the redistribution. Denied pre-selection was the UAP MP for Hornsby J.B.Shand, who chose to stand as an Independent UAP candidate.
