Notes: The election of John Perry at the first by-election was overturned by the Elections and Qualifications Committee when a re-count produced a tie (LAVP 1911-12, Vol.2 p.283) and a second by-election called which was won by Labor. The victory restored Labor's majority, and while Henry Willis remained Speaker until July 1913, the government no longer felt itself bound by the agreement with Willis not to introduce controversial legislation. (Evatt pp215-220)
Source: Year Book of Australia (1913) p.314. SMH 31 October 1911, p.9 col.7. published slightly different totals, Ashford 4025, Perry 3511. The 31 October issue of Quirindi Gazette is absent from the NSW State Library's collection, but in the Gazette on 14 November, Perry thanked the 3525 people who voted for him, suggesting the Year-Book's totals are probably correct.
