Notes: Rae is listed as a Labor candidate in Hughes and Graham (1975) and he was still in the caucus at the time of the 1894 election, but he is missing from the SMH selected list (16 July). The Worker lists him as a Labor candidate in June, but the Australian Workman clearly lists him as Independent Labor and the Brisbane Worker 7 July lists him as a modified pledge Labor candidate. He is shown here as Independent Labor. He was also included in the list of the Free Trade and Land Reform Association. A petition was lodged against the result and a recount conducted by the Elections and Qualifications Committee, producing the totals Fitzpatrick 710, Rae 701, Hunphreys 5. (LAVP 1894-5 Vol.1 p.1009)
