He joined the Labor caucus after the election and so is listed here as a Labor candidate. While Ellis was the Free Trade MP elected in 1894, Blanksby was the selected Free Trade candidate in 1895. Ellis was given no clear affiliation in the newspapers and is shown here as an Independent Free Trade candidate.
