Notes: In 'Civilising Capitalism', Bede Nairn lists Newman as one of the non-solidarity Labor candidates (p120 and footnote). Hughes and Graham (1975) list him as an Independent Labor candidate, but he was endorsed as a Free Trade candidate (SMH 16 July). The Australian Worker lists him as Independent Labor while he is not mentioned in the Worker by 30 June and listed as a modified pledge Labor candidate in the Brisbane Worker 7 July. Given Newman's future career in the Free Trade and Liberal parties, he is listed here as a Free Trade candidate rather than the Independent Labor listing from the Workman. Some sources listed Jaeger as Free Trade Labor, but he is shown here as Independent Free Trade.
