Source: Derived from discussion of results published in Wilcannia Times, 2 February 1882, p.2 col.2-4, which mentioned there being 426 votes, a majority of 6 and Quin recording 216 votes. This matches the Riverine Grazier, 1 February, p.2 col.6, which had a very brief telegraph report of Quin winning by 6 votes. Earlier incomplete results in both papers had Evans leading, and see letter in Wilcannia Times, 9 February, on claims of deliberately false reports being sent by telegraph.
