Australian Democrats. Concern for the destruction of sand dunes at Myall Lakes led him to join the Australia Party in 1971.
Community Activity
Campaigned on environmental, conservation and animal welfare issues for many years. Joined the Myall Lakes Committee in 1971, went to the United Nations Conference on Human Environment in 1972, organised the first public beach clean-up and first anti-pollution march over Sydney Harbour Bridge. First convenor of Friends of the Earth, co-founded Greenpeace in 1977. Organised funding for Project Jonah's Save the Whale campaign. Founded the Fund for Animals in 1981. Went to Newfoundland twice in an attempt to stop baby seal killings. Co-founded Currambena School in 1969.

Publisher. General Manager Hamlyn House Pty Ltd: 1971. Proprietor of Mailex International: 1976-1984. Editor and/or Publisher of Simply Living magazine: 1983-1989. Educated at Downsend School, Epsom College. Collector of Tribal Art, oriental bronzes and Asian antiques. Recreational interests include conservation, goat farming, reading and writing.
