Qualifications, occupations and interests
Miner. Father was killed in the Greta Colliery in December 1899. Educated at Kurri Kurri public school; family moved to Greta in 1915, later to Branxton where he began mining; after Rothbury employed Richmond Main Colliery; secretary of Rothbury Lodge, and of strike committee from 1929 until 1930, organiser for Combined Mining Union Council for 1930s, Rothbury and Burragorang, elected to North Board of Management in 1945, vice president from 1949 until 1959, retired; chairman of Cardiff Urban Area Committee. Recreational interests include bowls.
