(1) Has the Rail Infrastructure and Systems Review identified any safety concerns within the heavy rail network?
Answer -

I am advised

The NSW Government announced an independent review of Sydney Trains’ Rail Infrastructure and

Systems on 6 April 2023.

The Review Panel handed down its interim report to Government on 12 May 2023. The Government has accepted all 12 recommendations made in the report.

Work has commenced on the implementation of the interim recommendations, while the Review Panel will undertake more detailed investigations during Phase Two of the review, including to further consider overall safety performance and the effectiveness of programs to improve safety performance.
