GOVERNMENT'S COMMITMENT TO STRATEGIC DOMESTIC MANUFACTURING PLAN

(1) Will the Government reaffirm its commitment to establish a strategic domestic manufacturing and industry plan which includes the following actions:

(a) Direct Government investment to build the capacity of local manufacturing in strategic areas?

(b) Prioritise the building and servicing of all trains and buses in Australia and where viable, in New South Wales?

Yes.

The former Liberal-National government went to great efforts to undermine local manufacturing, which included procuring heavy rail rolling stock from China and South Korea, metro rolling stock from India, light rail rolling stock from France and Spain and ferries from China and Indonesia.
