123. The procedure for the lodging and presentation of a petition is as
follows:
- The Member must be acquainted with the contents of the petition.
- The Member must ensure that the petition is in conformity with the standing
orders.
- The Member must sign the front sheet and, if applicable, certify that the
petition has been signed by 500 or more persons..
- The petition may be lodged for presentation with the Clerk.
- In the House the Clerk shall announce that petitions have been received.
- The terms of the petition presented shall be printed in Hansard and in the
Votes and Proceedings.
- No discussion upon the subject matter of a petition shall be allowed,
except by way of substantive motion.
