Stop Hampton Park Solar

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, The petition of the undersigned residents of New South Wales draws to the attention of the House our objection to the proposed Hampton Park Solar and Battery Energy Storage Facility, currently in the scoping stage for development near Dubbo. While we acknowledge that some consultation has taken place, we are concerned that: • The consultation process has not been fully transparent, inclusive, or responsive to the community’s feedback. • The proposed site is inappropriately located, placing industrial-scale infrastructure within close proximity to rural residences, productive agricultural land, and ecologically sensitive areas; • The proposal poses unacceptable risks relating to fire safety, environmental impact, visual intrusion, and long-term land degradation; • The project does not reflect best-practice planning or site selection for renewable energy projects in regional communities. We are not opposed to renewable energy but strongly believe that projects of this scale must be located and planned appropriately, with genuine community involvement and rigorous risk assessment. We therefore request the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to: • Recognise community concerns about the location and consultation process for the Hampton Park Solar and Battery Energy Storage Facility; • Ensure that a comprehensive and independent review of the site suitability and consultation is undertaken before the project progresses further; • Require that large-scale renewable energy developments be located through transparent planning frameworks that prioritise community input, agricultural protection, and environmental integrity.
