underSTATEd 2018

underSTATEd 2018

Celebrating works from the Parliamentary Collection, underSTATEd is back again in 2018 featuring the NSW landscape across time. Until the end of February, these exclusive treasures can be viewed in the Fountain Court.

The Parliament of New South Wales launched the first underSTATEd series in 2012 displaying a compelling selection of paintings from the NSW Parliamentary Collection; a significant collection of fine artworks, artefacts and objects gathered over the State's 200 year history.

underSTATEd 2012 (Paintings) succeeded in attracting much positive attention from members of the Parliament, parliamentary staff and the general public with treasures by the likes of Brett Whiteley and Julian Ashton on display.

underSTATEd 2014 (Photography) continued this legacy of sharing treasured works with an exploration of the history of photography in NSW.

underSTATEd 2016 (Works on Paper) featured works by Lloyd Rees, Brett Whiteley, John Olsen, Martin Sharp, Jeffrey Smart and other Australian artists.

This year, underSTATEd 2018 (Landscapes) has several works from the Principal Collection including Heather Dorrough's majorwork on the botanic studies of the first crop trials in NSW. Also featured are Max Dupain's large format images and newly acquired Olive Cotton photographs.
