Julian Kingma, one of Australia's most accomplished portrait photographers, has partnered with Go Gentle Australia on his latest project, the Walkley Award-winning The Power of Choice.
For 18 months, Julian travelled Australia to do something no-one has attempted before – document the people who choose voluntary assisted dying (VAD), and the families and health professionals who help them on their final journey.
Julian's deeply personal portraits and photo essays capture stories of hope, struggle, courage and acceptance. They reveal the human face of Australia's compassionate VAD laws and invite us to ask, perhaps for the first time, what constitutes a good death?
The exhibition coincides with a mandated review into the operation of VAD in New South Wales.
This exhibition is being hosted by the Hon Greg Piper, Member for Lake Macquarie.
