See the work of Blak Douglas, one of Australia’s best-loved contemporaryand Aboriginal artists, in thefree exhibition Face Value onNSW Parliament’s Reconciliation Wall.
The exhibition showcases several paintings that Blak has entered into the Archibald Prize over the past decade – including twoartworks selected as Finalists. Each larger-than-life portrait measures approximately two metres in width and height, payingtribute to the cultural contributions and achievements ofprominent First Nations figures Uncle Max Eulo, Christine Anu, Uncle Roy Kennedy and Brooke Boney.
Born Adam Hillbefore adopting the artistic alias of Blak Douglas, Blak is a proudAboriginal man of Dhunguttiand Irish heritage.Originally trained in graphic design and illustration, the self-taught painter has gone on to earn great acclaim including as winner of the Kilgour Prize in 2019 and the Archibald Prize in 2022.
With a bold and distinctive visual language, Blak’swork offersincisive cultural and political commentary about what it means to be a First Nations person in modern Australia.
Face Value is being hosted at NSW Parliament by the Hon Ben Franklin MLC.

Visit the free exhibition at NSW Parliament House on weekdays, 9am to 5pm between 4 February and 27March 2025. Access is to the left of the building via the security gatehouse.
