Read the paper CBD and South East Light Rail: Key sources
In the lead up to the March 2011 NSW election, the Coalition announced that it would build light rail in the Sydney central business district (CBD) and conduct feasibility studies into extending the light rail network from Central Station to the University of NSW and University of Sydney. In December 2012, the NSW Government released a Long Term Transport Master Plan and a Sydney’s Light Rail Future strategy. Planning approval for the CBD and South East Light Rail project was given on 4 June 2014, the contract with ALTRAC Light Rail consortium was signed in December 2014, and construction began in October 2015.
This paper presents a collection of key sources on the project including: NSW government publications; statutory bodies reports; NSW Parliamentary material; NSW Opposition and minor parties comments; academic articles; and news media.
