To the President and Members of the Legislative Council, the petitioners of New South Wales state that the Seven Mile Beach National Park ecosystem supports seven endangered ecological communities, 13 endangered fauna, and one of the last stable Greater Glider populations on the South Coast. The national park also contains New South Wales' largest coastal freshwater wetland, the 670 hectare Coomonderry Swamp. Most of these environmental values are not protected within Seven Mile Beach National Park. The petitioners request that the House expand the Seven Mile Beach National Park to protect the environmental assets adjoining the Park, including habitats essential for the survival of the Greater Glider population, the biologically significant Coomonderry Swamp wetland, and endangered groundwater dependant ecological communities and habitats for threatened or endangered fauna.
