The Clerk and other officers

The Clerk is the head of the Department of the Legislative Assembly and the principal adviser to the Speaker on procedural issues and the operation of the Chamber.

The Deputy Clerk supports the Clerk in providing leadership in all aspects of the operation of the Department.

The Clerk-Assistant, House and Procedure – Chamber manages the Chamber Services team, supporting the sittings of the House and assisting visitors to the Parliamentary Precincts.
The Serjeant-at-Arms is the custodian of the Mace and responsible for ceremonial events and security inside and outside of the Chamber, including preserving order at the Speaker's direction, and managing protocol and programs for visiting dignitaries and delegations.

The Clerk-Assistant, House and Procedure – Table Office manages the Table Office within the House and Procedure business unit, supporting the sittings of the House and providing procedural advice and information to members and other stakeholders.

The Clerk-Assistant, Committees manages the Committees business unit and is responsible for the Assembly's engagement initiatives.

Mr Sam Griffith

The Clerk-Assistant, Committees provides authoritative and independent advice to the Speaker, Speaker’s Panel, Office Holders and Members on Legislative Assembly procedure, enabling them to undertake their parliamentary duties effectively.
