Notification of intention to issue writ for a by-election in the vacant seat of upper hunter

Speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly, the Hon. Jonathan O’Dea MP, today announced that a by-election would be held for the electoral district of Upper Hunter following the receipt of the resignation from Michael Johnsen.

Mr O’Dea advised that “subsequent upon receipt of the resignation of Mr Michael Johnsen, I wish to announce that a by-election for the vacant seat of Upper Hunter will be held on Saturday 22 May 2021.”

“Accordingly, today I have advised the Electoral Commissioner Mr John Schmidt of my intention to issue the writ on Friday 30 April 2021”, Mr O’Dea said.
