Commissioned as a Justice of the Peace in 1871. Helped found Loyal Orange Institution 1845; Grand Master 1870 - 1875. Active Primitive Methodist; prominent lay preacher; trustee of Kent Street Chapel.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Painter, glazier and building contractor. Arrived in Sydney in 1841 and by late 1860's owned several houses in Waterloo, Sydney. Joined Protestant Political Association, formed in March 1868. Became its paid itinerant organiser 1869.
