Educated at a state secondary school; carpenter; employed as an auctioneer and salesman in brother's business, J.H Beale & Co., 1910 until 1911, and on own account as Rupert Beale & Co., mercantile broker, c1910 until 1915; in partnership with brother, A.B Beale, dairying near Aberdeen, 1915 until 1916; bankrupt in 1922, discharged in 1940; employed as a manager at Muswellbrook from 1921 until 1923; publican in Sydney and Newcastle from 1926 until 1935; manager of Beale and Still, real estate agents and financiers in 1934; managed Bellevue hotel, Tuncurry, 1935 until 1938; secretary of Brighton Hotel, Kiama from 1938; president of Aberdeen Primary Producers' Union; honorary secretary of New South Wales Amateur Swimming Association.
