Biography
Additional information
Aileen is a Member of the Legislative Council and the Shadow Minister for Youth Justice.
She has been a Member of Parliament since August 2022.
In that time Aileen has distinguished herself as a passionate advocate for early intervention and diversionary programs when it comes to our troubled youth, and local issues in northern NSW.
Aileen now sits on a number of Parliamentary Committees related to her political objectives.
She is currently a member of Portfolio Committee No.8 – Customer Service; the Modern Slavery Committee; the Animal Welfare Committee; Portfolio Committee No.4 – Regional NSW; and the Health Care Complaints Commission.
Aileen is proud to live in Regional NSW and is a passionate supporter and advocate for small business and community resilience.
Her service to the community was recognised in 2019 with the Citizen of Guyra Award, and in what was then the Queen’s Birthday Honours she was awarded an Order of the Medal of Australia in 2020.
Prior to entering Parliament, she was also the President of Business New England, and the President of the Business NSW Regional Advisory Council.
Aileen’s depth of experience comes from having run an agricultural supplies business with her husband Scot while raising her three children.
She also served as a Community Corrections officer before entering Parliament.
When it comes to commitment to her community, Aileen’s record is outstanding. She has been the Chairperson of the Armidale Regional Council’s Regional Growth and Economic Development Committee, and she developed ‘Renew Armidale’ to help bolster the local business community.
Aileen has also been a member of the NSW Liberal Party’s State Executive and was Country Vice President of the NSW Liberal Women’s Council.
Aileen is a member of the Rotary Club of Guyra and has been on the local Chamber of Commerce.
Significantly, she has been a strong advocate for economic development in the region and successfully advocated for the building of the Malpas Dam to Guyra water pipeline during the crippling drought of 2019.
