Ban e-bikes in the Shell Cove Waterfront Precinct

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, Living in the Shell Cove waterfront precinct area has recently become more challenging for countless residents in our community. E-bike riders, often unsupervised kids, have taken over our peaceful streets and public areas. Their reckless behaviour, such as yelling and swearing at residents and marina patrons, has disrupted the tranquillity that used to define our neighbourhood. It's not uncommon to witness near-miss accidents, as these riders zoom through our precinct without a care for the safety and well-being of others. The prevalence of e-bikes in our area has transformed the waterfront precinct from a safe and relaxing space into a hotspot for disorderly conduct. This has severely impacted the quality of life for those who call this beautiful place home. The Shell Cove waterfront should be a haven for families and visitors to enjoy, not a danger zone filled with disrespectful behaviour and unsafe conditions. Therefore, the undersigned petitioners in the Shell Cove community ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to demand an outright ban on e-bikes in the waterfront precinct. This measure is crucial to ensuring the safety, calm, and enjoyment of this public space for everyone. The ban would prevent further disruptions and hold people accountable for protecting the environment, infrastructure, and the community.
