Legislative Council Standing Committee on State Development
The Standing Committee on State Development is a current standing committee of the Legislative Council.
The Standing Committee on State Development was first established in the 49th Parliament by resolution of the House of 9 June 1988. The Committee was reappointed in each of the subsequent Parliaments, most recently, on 10 May 2007 for the current 54th Parliament.
Under the resolution the functions of the State Development Committee are to inquire into and report on matters concerned with policy directions to ensure that opportunities for sound growth and wise development are pursued for the benefit of people in all areas of New South Wales.
Key areas of concern are: economics and finance, commerce, infrastructure and planning, energy and utilities, natural resources, transportation, tourism, public administration, local government, primary industry, agriculture and fisheries, mineral resources, industrial and technological developments, science and medical research, environmental issues, and issues unique to, or predominant in, rural areas.
