Getting to Parliament House (Mobility Impaired)

Taxis and private cars can drop you at the front entrance to Parliament House in Macquarie Street.

Wheelchair-bound or mobility-impaired attendees

Access to Parliament House is via a secured ramp off the forecourt at the left side of the Legislative Assembly stairs.
Signage is provided in large format and at wheelchair height on the base of the Legislative Assembly steps and at the ramp entrance.
Inside the entrance to the ramp there is a direct phone link to security via a big red button. Press the button and the Legislative Assembly Attendants will be alerted to come down and accompany you through the security doors to the interior ramp.
The Legislative Assembly attendants will then take you to the secure Theatrette Lift and up to Level 7.
At Level 7 you will be taken through Security and be given a Security pass if proceeding to a meeting or another appointment.
You may then proceed to your meeting on Level 7 or on Level 8 via the Members’ Lifts.

Leaving Parliament House by taxi or private car (Macquarie Street)
Taxis can be hailed in Macquarie Street. For those wishing to travel north it is best to stand on the western side of the street. Private cars do pick up in Macquarie Street but they have to battle the traffic.

Wheelchair-bound or mobility-impaired attendees (Hospital Road)
Taxis can be ordered by telephone. They pick up in Hospital Road at the back of the building. Private cars can also pick up in Hospital Road and there is a loading dock for short waiting periods.

If you require a taxi or private car to collect you at the end of your meeting, please advise committee staff and they can order one to collect you at the Hospital Road exit.
It is essential to alert the staff in good time as a portable ramp will need to be set up.
A member of staff will accompany you via the lift to Level 6, down the ramp to the waiting taxi or private car.
